Guide on how to install Arch Linux ARM on SD card for your Orange Pi PC board

Orange Pi PC + Arch Linux ARM: installation guide

This guide is based on multiple guides as well as official instructions for the other boards found on the Internet:

  1. https://github.com/RoEdAl/alarm-uboot-sunxi-armv7
  2. https://uthings.uniud.it/building-mainline-u-boot-and-linux-kernel-for-orange-pi-boards
  3. https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/allwinner/pcduino3

I have gone through all these steps recently and got a working board with my favorite Arch Linux ARM. I hope it will be helpful for someone else.

Connect host and VM when using MACVTAP instead of TAP interfaces

Connect host and VM when using a MACVTAP interface

NB: The following is only of interest if you want to share the host network with your virtual machine. The most common way this gets implemented is by setting up a bridge which includes the physical interface. Using a [MACVTAP] inerface is suposed to be more efficient, since it avoids the additional bridge in the network setup.

In this gist, we extend the information provided in the documenation on linux virtual interfaces.

In the following, we assume you host interface is eth0. IP addresses used:

  • host: 198.51.100.50/24
  • virtual machine: 198.51.100.198/24
  • default gateway: 198.51.100.254

Master GitHub markdown tables with code blocks

Master GitHub markdown tables with code blocks

  1. Use HTML tags to define the table to get the best layout result
  2. Use either backticks (```) or the HTML pre element with attribute lang
  3. Keep a blank line before and after a code block for correct formatting and syntax highlighting

Good

Example: nice looking table to show HTTP Responses

Boot Windows 10 and WinPE from PXE (IPXE)

Pre-requests:

  1. TFTP server
  2. IPXE Make sure ipxe.lkrn is in the TFTP root.
  3. iSCSI target (Server) Assume we have an iSCSI target "1:net.cszombie.au:windows" that is ready to be connected. 1 is LUN id, "net.cszombie.au:windows" is the target name.
  4. HTTP server (To speed up loading boot.wim, http is faster than tftp, http is supported by IPXE, however this is optional)

1. Download wimboot to the root of the TFTP server

2. Create scripts:

Debug zsh startup time

  1. Inject profiling code

At the beginning of your .zshrc add following: zmodload zsh/zprof

and at the end add: zprof

This will load zprof mod and display what your shell was doing durung your initialization.

Setting up a PyPi mirror

I) Introduction

Taken from: [https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/devpi-dev/S-3ioWILTiY]).

We wanted to do some python developpement but we had a problem : our working network is completely isolated from any internet access, only having servers providing services like distribution packages repository mirror and web servers. The question then was how to make a full pypi mirror for usig pip install and pip search.

This is possible to be done using devpi, a web server, bandersnatch and an external hard drive. The idea is to dump all pypi packages with bandersnatch, transfer them to the server with the hard drive,
