remote dev VPS webpack-dev-server nginx setup

Remote Dev machine webpack-dev-server HMR + static serving combo

Make sure you have port 8080 (or whatever you use) open on the remote machine!! Don't be like Vinney.

I'm no webpack expert (in fact this is the first project I've set up by hand ever...), but if you know what you're doing you should be able to change the relevant parts of this to fit your project:

# webpack.config.js

module.exports = {

Quick Tutorial on Using Lsyncd

Lsyncd Technical Session

So what is lsyncd?

Lsyncd is a tool used to keep a source directory in sync with other local or remote directories. It is a solution suited keeping directories in sync by batch processing changes over to the synced directories.

When would we use lsyncd?

So the generic use case is to keep a source directory in sync with one or more local and remote directories.

This describes how I setup Atom for Clojure Development.

Atom Clojure Setup

This describes how I setup Atom for an ideal Clojure development workflow. This fixes indentation on newlines, handles parentheses, etc. The keybinding settings for enter (in keymap.cson) are important to get proper newlines with indentation at the right level. There are other helpers in init.coffee and keymap.cson that are useful for cutting, copying, pasting, deleting, and indenting Lisp expressions.

Install Atom

Download Atom

The Atom documentation is excellent. It's highly worth reading the flight manual.

Virtual DOM and diffing algorithm

There was a [great article][1] about how react implements it's virtual DOM. There are some really interesting ideas in there but they are deeply buried in the implementation of the React framework.

However, it's possible to implement just the virtual DOM and diff algorithm on it's own as a set of independent modules.
