Privacy Policy

Cubies — Last updated: April 2026

Cubies is a companion app for smart Rubik's cubes. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used.

Data we do not collect

Cubies does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There is no account, no registration, no analytics, and no cloud service. No data is ever sent to us or any third party.

Bluetooth (Nearby Devices permission)

Cubies uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to discover and connect to nearby smart cubes. The Nearby Devices permission is required for this. The app:

Scans for nearby BLE devices to find your cube.

Connects to your cube to read its state and send move instructions.

Does not access contacts, call logs, or any other device data through Bluetooth.

Does not store BLE device identifiers beyond the current session.

Home Assistant integration (optional)

If you configure the optional Home Assistant integration, Cubies connects directly to your local Home Assistant instance over your home network. No data passes through any external server. The connection details (hostname and port) are stored locally on your device only.

Local storage

Cubies stores your preferences (theme, display settings, simulator configuration) locally on your device using Android's standard storage APIs. This data stays on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Permissions

Children

Cubies does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not collect any personal data from anyone.

Changes
