System / Status could be moved later on the order
-
Is International category gone? (fine for me since the portuguese channel never seriously used, but idk about the other ones)
-
There's a channel to choose "channels and roles" (translated for me in Discord), however it is not listed on the Server Guide.
-
On the Server Guide, the "read the rules" is available twice [screen capture]
Was the onboarding process clear and able to provide you with the necessary information to start interacting with the server?
Yes, although:
- Read the rules are listed twice: one in english in the first item, another in portuguese (my language) in the last item, so my guess is that Discord is automatically adding an extra "read the rules" (the portuguese one does not have the check btw).
Does the order of the channels and categories feel easy to understand for new users starting at the top?
I think it could change:
-
The statistics voice channels could be the last channels, since they are just information without actual use.
-
Same for System / Status category
Otherwise, the order is great.
Do the channels feel intuitive towards finding your needed subject for discussion?
SIGs and Industry are good.
Community is also good, and I like there's a General Voice channel.
Features is good, however it creates a question for me:
"if I have a question that's about Script Canvas, should I ask in #support-forum or #script-canvas?": That's not clear at first glance.
Are there any missing topics wanted?
The only missing one I could catch is the calendar.
How do you feel about the reduced footprint of server channels?
This is a good thing, the addition of the Features category helps on finding the right channel. Before was very tricky to know which sig to talk about (and before that, the fact that happens on sigs, which isn't a broadly known concept in gamedev, and tbh maybe not even on open-source users).
Do you feel it's simpler/more intuitive to have less general support channels?
I think it's a good thing to not have three support channels.
Do the support forums seem capable of handling and focusing issues/needs, without starving people from an "in" through the general-support chat channel?
Forums are great, the only problem with them is visibility, at least for me I sometimes miss the questions done in support-forums. Tags may be needed though (like a Lua tag), although this conflicts with my support vs feature channels question again.
How do you enjoy the "Features" category and channels? Are there any channels you feel are missing, or unable to be under the gems-features forum umbrella?
Except for the "where to ask" problem cited above, I think this is a good thing, so sig channels are more focused formal development chat, while the more informal more specific chat about a tool is focused on the Features channels.
I guess more general channels also would need to be available, like "#3D lightning", "#post-processing", etc.
Is there a mismatch in the order of Categories that you feel should be changed?
Already answered
Do the mock topics raised in jobs-teams, and gems-features, forums feel appropriate for the type of topics that should be allowed in them?
I'm a bit confused on the idea of the gems-features. Specific tools are on Features, otherwise questions are on support-forum. New gems made by community would be shared on showcase first. So when would be gems-features be preferred?
How do you like a Gallery Forum for Showcase over the regular Text feed style?
I prefer this way because showcases works better on threads, so defaulting to the thread model with forums does works better.
