LeftOver app privacy policy

LeftOver Privacy Policy

Effective date: 10 June 2026

LeftOver is a personal finance app designed around a simple principle: your financial data never leaves your device.

What we collect

Nothing. LeftOver has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no servers. We do not collect, transmit, store, sell, or share any personal information. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking of any kind.

Where your data lives

Everything you enter — accounts, expenses, trips, loans, investments, subscriptions, receipts, and settings — is stored in a local database and files on your device only. It is protected by your device's own security (passcode, Face ID / Touch ID, and OS-level encryption).

Exchange rates

To convert between currencies, LeftOver fetches exchange rates from the public frankfurter.app API. These requests contain only currency codes (for example, "USD to THB") — never amounts, balances, or anything about you. Like any internet request, the rate server sees your IP address while serving the request. If you are offline, LeftOver uses cached or bundled rates and makes no request at all.

Backups

Backups are optional, started only by you, and encrypted before they leave the app. They are written to a destination you choose — such as your own iCloud or Google Drive account, or a local file you export. LeftOver has no servers and never receives a copy.

Device permissions

  • Camera / Photos — used only to capture or attach receipt images, which are stored on your device.
  • Face ID / Touch ID — used only to lock the app. Biometric data is handled entirely by your operating system; LeftOver never sees it.
  • Notifications — reminders (bill due dates, budget alerts) are scheduled locally on your device.

You can decline or revoke any of these permissions in your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working.

Crash and error logs

If something goes wrong, a technical error log (error message, app version, OS version) is saved on your device only, to help diagnose problems. It is never transmitted anywhere and is pruned automatically.

Deleting your data

Your data is yours to destroy: use Settings → Clear All Data inside the app, or simply delete the app. Because we hold no copies, deletion is immediate and complete. Remember that backups you exported to your own cloud storage are under your control and should be deleted there too.

Children

LeftOver does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of LeftOver ever changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the change will be called out in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
