I was going to write to Mary Oliver
But it turns out she's not dead
So I'll write to her inspiration
Which is Ezekiel instead
A wheel within a wheel, he saw
Like Mary with her starlings
In the sky before him
In awe and so much glory
I find that every wheel we see
And also every bird and fish and tree
Has so many wheels within
It's almost an infinity
Each thing alive in its own way with
Each cell with maddening inner workings
Each atom with electrons buzzing
Each particle with unknown vibrating
Ultimately only describable by a mastery
Of the timeless words of poetry
