I strugeled to set this up, my sessions seemed to be overwritten. Heres what I did:

Kitty.exe lives in C:\Program Files\kitty\kitty.exe
I placed a kitty.ini next to the .exe but regardless to what i set in this ini, my sessions always got stored in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Kitty\Sessions

I ended up in acepting that it is this way and now my session get stored there and that works for me.
The Default%20Settings are placed in there and get used for every new session.
