@geraldus sorry for taking so long. I fixed my VM, and tried installing Android Studio with Oracle JDK, and indeed I get the same exception. There's probably some packaging issue somewhere there, I'll see if I can make anything of it.
Nevertheless, try what I recommended before: installing it from Docker.
