Why Viber sucks

Viber isnt a terrible app, calling it a terrible/bad app would be an insult to other bad apps. viber is the worst app and the worst platform, it is below what is humanly possible.its one of the main reasons i hate the maldivian community as a whole. this can be attributed to its shitty/dark origins (spying tool created by the ISRAELI goverment), although they tried to hide its past or origins some still remains available (https://web.archive.org/web/20131010072724/http://www.moh10ly.com/home/security/viberisaspy), although they claim the app is fully end to end encrypted theres no proof to back it up

Privacy

privacy on viber is basically non existent, in fact its literally inviting predators and other potential dangerous people to you, Id not be surprised if majority number leaks or similar are through viber

Mass Scraping

since theres no rate limiting on Viber,all Maldivian numbers on viber can mass scraped relatively easily by any part without any major resources by two major ways

Mass contact adding
Automated bruteforcing

I will not go into details of any these methods due to various reasons,but such attackks have been carried out succesfully and the data been made public, revealing personal details/phone numbers of many vulnerable people to everyone,

Viber also stores every contacts birthday locally , allowing you to search people by birthday
Many details of people whome you've barely interacted with are also saved on the db. eg searched

Backups

The stored backups are also not encrypted and beat the whole purpose of the whole "end to end encrypted chats"

Performance

The performance of viber is absymal and stutters and crashes on every phone thats not the highest end, and even struggles on even the most high end phones. the storage is exceedingly high and takes up all storage on most devices with low storage.

Mobile data usage is very incredibly high since vidoes dont support sttreaming and all images are downloaded and upload at the highest quality without giving any control to the user
The whole experience is then more crippled by the fact that the whole platform is filled to brim with ads
The notification system is super annoying and annoyes each and every user,

In conclusion i consider viber to be a ad platform with messages in between

Vibers features has remained dormant till 2014 and bugs have remained unfixed for a long time,

The fact that viber doesnt allow multiple users on the same phone has made it incredibly difficult for anyone using it for any sort of professional work that requires seperation professional, and personal account seperation
Communities on viber suck at best and prevents you being anonymous as the name of the op cannot be hidden even when using Aliases, the statistics for communities are lacluster compared to almost any other apps
Viber doesnt support organizing chats into folders , this makes it painful to find chats
viber doesnt allow hiding your profile picture at all
The bot API is shit and it requires you to setup a webhook for you to even begin experimenting with it and all bots have to go through a stupid verification process which just discourages anyone from making bots onthe platform
Theres no way to automate actual user accounts either
The stcikers are data intensive as fuck and just suck and have to go through a verification porcess to get published
Notifications are just plain broken pssss( fuck higlights,a nd aggregations) they dont work
No voice chat support either
I still havent figured out how to mute a certain chat on viber
