Question on this (from a noob) -- does the tile show the temperature it polls from the Nest service?

@CarusoApps
Copy link

how long does the polling take?

pickerin commented Mar 9, 2014

Answers: Yes, the tile shows the temperature that the Nest reported on the last poll.
Initial polling takes a minute or two, I found that if I went into the Activity feed, I could get it update the tile faster.

Dianoga: Just noticed that your weather method uses a hardcoded zip code for IA.
I modified my version to create a new setting called zip and then used that setting in the API call.
Probably worth a mod, I didn't think it warranted a fork.

Great work!

Question: How does one handle the case where 2 people live in the house, each having a SmartThings presence sensor (iPhone)? If one person leaves and the other remains - who 'wins' the away/present vote? Is this handled in the current release?

Thanks in advance!

Question: Is it possible to use '+' and '-' tiles for the temperature instead of the slider? If so, how would this be written? The current way of altering the setpoint is the slider, and this is not really smooth. When I let go of the slider it ends up either a few degrees higher or lower then the temp I actually want, because of my big fingers. Also, the slider is hard to "grab" in both the iPhone and Android. (I tried but i'm kind of a noob to this language as I just got my hub a few days ago)

Great work, by the way, integrates with nest pretty much seamlessly.

Hey pickerin: I followed all the steps but the new devices in the app doesn't seem to be updating with any of the data from my Nest. Any thoughts?

@triggertact

Nevermind, I just needed to adjust the code for the Device Type a bit from how I had it. Thanks

dianoga - question:
I'm with you on steps 1 and 2 - but where do you do #3 at in the instructions?

@StargazerESP

Question, when I copy and paste it I get the following error.
