Who is the meetup aimed at?
Experienced software engineers interested in implementing systems above million user scale (or phrased another way: scale that requires non-trivial solutions).
What topics should be covered?
Numbers, estimates, simulations. Implementation case studies. Design decisions with system level impact. Technology comparisons within architectural constraints.
What do we care about?
Principles underlying system design. Real life results versus theoretical performance. Broad industry trends that influence architecture and implementation.
What's the tone?
Serious technical discussions and knowledge sharing. Inspired by great discussions like these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd0v72pD1MI
What will the format of the event be?
A mix of unconference peppered with presented questions, short talks to introduce new material and focus on a topic. Open discussion throughout. Definitely not static, be prepared to participate.
How often will the meetup run?
At this point, most likely once every few months. Meetups will be announced 1 month in advance. Ping me (@DillionTan) if you're interested in helping out!
