Big list of http static server one-liners

Each of these commands will run an ad hoc http static server in your current (or specified) directory, available at http://localhost:8000. Use this power wisely.

OpenSSL encrypt/decrypt

Encryption with openssl

Encrypt:

openssl enc -e -aes256 -salt -in file-to-encrypt -out file-encrypted.encrypted

Use this one instead, if base64 is needed (send encrypted file as text on email, or messaging).

GPG / Mutt / Gmail

About

This is a collection of snippets, not a comprehensive guide. I suggest you start with Operational PGP.

Here is an incomplete list of things that are different from other approaches:

  • I don't use keyservers. Ever.
  • Yes, I use Gmail instead of some bespoke hipster freedom service
