links for old versions of Docker for Mac

Deprecated

Docker provides download links in release note. They promised that

(we) will also include download links in release notes for future releases.

Note:

  • Old versions are not supported by the Docker team!
  • This Gist may be removed if Docker officially provides such listing.

@changchanglccc No need to run any old Docker for Monterey compatibility, most recent update from official site still works just fine for me. (Nonetheless you should install the latest Monterey 12.7.x update of macOS that contains many fixes incl. security, it's still getting important fixes in updates… and anyone running older Monterey than 12.5 also note that you're missing on features/improvements in Docker features and compatibility so you should try to run the latest Monterey available for best Docker experience!)

Im on 12.7.6 release . Downloaded the latest docker from their website which wasn't compatible. Downloaded 4.24.2 from above link . its working

What has changed in the not too distant past is, that when a macOS version compatibility was dropped, it was noted in their Release Notes — giving folks the option to pinpoint the version one older to actually be able to run it.

Now they cover it by just an official statement that "Docker Desktop is supported on the current and two previous major macOS releases. As new major versions of macOS are made generally available, Docker stops supporting the oldest version and supports the newest version of macOS (in addition to the previous two releases)." — meaning that macOS 12 support was only godfathered in at that point and was about to change without prior notice at any point… which will be the case of macOS 13 support in a few weeks too now.

Well, it would be good if more folks chimed in, what was the last version working for them, so we can have the last known working download version posted here for others. (As docker now officially removes their download links after six months, so changelog links posted here lose their download instructions over time — we should make a copy here for reference then.)

@edisun3003 You have some options posted in the thread. Right above your post is:

Can you help me? I have Monterey 12.7 and I cat find a working one. Would appreaciate it a lot ! Thank you

Try version 4.41.2
https://docs.docker.com/desktop/release-notes/#4412

Basically at least v4.41.0 should be used given the security fixes if possible.

The last version I used on Monterey 12.7.6 was v4.38.0 — I can try pulling the download links for that if none of the newer versions work. But ideally folks settle on some newer version that still works for macOS 12 and let us know which is that, so the links could be saved here for posterity. Thanks.

So in case this is the last compatible macOS 12 Monterey version, I'll noting the links here:

Download Docker Desktop 4.41.2 (2025-05-06):

(Happy to update once a newer version than this is confirmed working for anyone.)
