nest-egg — Terms of Use

Last updated: 27 August 2026

What this is

nest-egg is a personal budgeting tool. It reads the operator's own bank transactions, sorts them into categories, and compares the result against budgets the operator sets.

It is run by one individual for their own use. It is not offered to the public, no account can be created on it, and it is not sold, licensed or advertised.

Who may use it

The operator only. There are no other users, no registration, and no authentication — the application is reachable only from the machine it runs on.

What it is not

nest-egg is not financial, tax or investment advice, and not a regulated financial service. It categorises transactions automatically and will sometimes get that wrong; every figure it shows should be treated as an aid to the operator's own judgement, not as a statement of account.

The bank's own records are always authoritative. Where nest-egg and a bank statement disagree, the bank is right.

Bank account access

Access to account information is provided by Enable Banking, a regulated account information service provider, acting on the operator's instruction. nest-egg never receives or stores banking credentials.

Consent lasts 90 days and can be withdrawn at any time, either by disconnecting the account in this application or by revoking access in the bank's own app.

Availability and liability

The software is provided as-is, with no warranty and no guarantee of availability, accuracy or fitness for any purpose. As it is operated by its author for their own use, no liability is offered to or accepted from any other party.

Changes

These terms may change at any time. The version published at this URL is the current one.

This document describes a personal, single-user installation and is not legal advice. If nest-egg is ever operated for anyone other than its author, these terms are insufficient and must be replaced.
