Mod 0 Reflections

Remote Collaboration Reflection

You've now experienced several remote classes in Mod 0. We want you to take some time to reflect on the following questions.

  1. Reflect on your experience in Breakout Rooms - how well did you engage with other students in your group? Did you notice times when you may have talked over other students? Were there times others talked over you?
  • I think breakout rooms are actually a great way to interact with your peers and get to know how everyone one else operates and see if you're doing what you need to do in a efficient way. By seeing how others interpret things you can also pick and choose to implement some of those ideas to your work to hone your skills. I also believe its easier to work "face to face" with someone else and hear their thoughts on the spot so if someone needs help they can try to get that help. Sometimes I would talk over someone else or someone would do the same thing but nothing that can't be fixed with a bit more of exposure to the breakout rooms.
  1. Reflect on your experiences communicating via Slack - what has been challenging about this format of communcation? What wins have you experienced so far with using Slack as a communication tool?
  • Sometimes I have questions about a certian topic and someone else would have the same train of thought and ask the question on slack and that would allow me to get my answer from some of my peers or at least guide me in the right direction. It also allows to share helpful information that someone might not even have thought of. I think for me a challange on slack is getting used to thier shorcuts but that can be overcome with slack keyboard shorcuts

Time Management Reflection

Pull up the calendar you created for Mod 0 and use it to reflect on the following questions.

  1. How well have you stuck to the schedule/calendar you created? What has worked well so far?
  • Since right now work still takes up most of my day I try to invest most of my free time to work on mod 0 and make sure I'm retaining the knowledge I'm getting. I say I'm actually sticking to my calendar fairly well, but one thing I've noticed is that I have to give myself more time to work on Mod 1 prework.
  1. What areas of your calendar need to be adjusted for the remainder of Mod 0? What lessons have you learned that will help you in Mod 1 as it relates to time management?
  • I'm well aware that I might get side tracked quite a bit trying to set up everything in my life outside of turing for the beginning of the course so I might want to add a bit more time dedicated to studying for Mod 0 assesment. While I reflect on my time management so far I've come to the realization that I shouldn't try to cram to many activities in a short amount of time, this I find to be counterproductive. I've also realized that in the near future I need to build a schedule dedicated to personal wellness and health so I get some time to decompress.
  1. How is your overall progress in completing the Mod 1 Prework?
  • I've only recently started working on Mod 1 prework last weekend and I haven't gotten very far but this is also due to personal circustances that I have no control over. I also stated that right now most of my time is getting consumed by my job but I soon as I quit im going to dedicate full time to finishing what needs to be done.
