For SBCs like the raspberry pi 3 or where minimum latency is desired it might be benefitial to offload STT and TTS to a more powerful server, such as a OVOS public server or a commercial service (google, amazon...)
To handle internet outages, OVOS can be configured to use local but slower/less accurate STT/TTS plugins, ensuring your device is always usable
More powerful devices such as desktops can run everything fully on device, no internet needed
All OVOS components can be self-hosted in your own server!
Voice Satellites are powered by HiveMind, allowing you to run ovos-core in your home server
or chat with hivemind from other applications
