As the title says, and contrary to the myths, it is possible to control your medias from your Fitbit smartwatch and it's not complicated at all!

TL;DR

As long as the smartwatch firmware and the companion app on your mobile gives the possibility to send app notifications to the smartwatch, you can control your medias from it!

Myths and Reality

If you do some research about this topic, you will find a lot of answers saying that its not possible or that the support has been dropped in the recent firmware versions.

It's not totally true.

Myths

  • And so on...

Reality

  • You can do it!

You will find out how in the next section.

How to do it then?!

As said, as long as the smartwatch firmware and the companion app gives the possibility to send app notifications to the smartwatch, you can use this feature to control your medias.


  1. Open the Fitbit app

Just do what is said above


  2. Tap on the device icon on the top left (where the smartwatch battery level is shown)

  3. Tap on your connected device

  4. Tap on Notifications in the General section

  5. Tap on App Notifications option

  6. Check the medias applications that you want to control from your smartwatch

  7. Close the Fitbit app

And... That's all folks!

You might want to change the vibration settings of your smartwatch as it will vibrate on every media control events / notifications.

Yup, I did it and it worked with the following applications:

And it should not be limited to these applications and should work for applications like Spotify, Netflix or whatever else as long as the application offers a notification with player controls.
