I understand that you would like to confirm that you can move your accounts in any order that you want to and once the accounts are moved to iCloud they will be individual accounts?

Jim:
Yes. If I move the master account first, can i still move the sub-accounts later?

Shante:
They all must be moved before June 30 2012.

Jim:
I understand, but can I move the master account before the subaccounts?

Shante:
Yes you can move them in any order you choose to move them in.

Shante:
I understand how the iCloud transition can be a concern for you, I will do my best to assist you in this matter. Have you contacted MobileMe Chat Support about this particular issue before (if so what is your case ID) or is this your first time?

Jim:
this is my first time

Jim:
My wife has an iPhone 3G

Shante:
The devices that will run iOS 5 are iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S,

Jim:
can I move her account to iCloud but then only set up the Mail on her iPhone (it runs iOS 4)

Shante:
iOS 5 is needed to have iCloud on the device

Jim:
so even the mail account won't work on her iPhone 3G if it's moved to iCloud?

Shante:
You can not set up the iCloud account on her device at all without iOS 5

Shante:
She can use her mail at http://icloud.com/mail

Jim:
can't she set it up as an IMAP account? How do Windows users use their iCloud mail?

Shante:
No, windows users must have Microsoft Windows 7 or Vista (Service Pack 2 or later) ▪iCloud Control Panel 1.0 ▪iTunes 10.5 ▪Outlook 2007 or 2010 (recommended for Contacts and Calendar)

Shante:
Only Apple devices with iOS 5 can use iCloud

Jim:
If I use Outlook 2007 on Windows 7 with iCloud Control Panel, is the iCloud account set up as an IMAP account or something else?

Shante:
I know what you are trying to say and there is not a work around. For windows users this is the set up process: From the Windows Start menu, choose Control Panel > Network and Internet > iCloud. Enter username you used to create the iCloud account and select the iCloud services to be enabled and for mail you would select "Use Outlook".

Shante:
There is not a "manual" set up for windows users. The system requirements are in place for the automatic set up

Jim:

so for my wife's account i should do the other option

Shante:
If this is the best option for you.

Jim:
"Not all my devices meet requirements" "I want to keep using my email after MobileMe ends"

Jim:
if I do that, can I set up the email on her iPhone 3G?

Jim:
or only through a web browser?

Shante:
Again, Only Apple devices with iOS 5 can use iCloud this includes the iCloud account's mail.

Jim:
so she can't even access her mail through Safari on her iPhone 3G?

Shante:
Web access to iCloud Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Find My iPhone is always available at icloud.com. If accessing the iCloud mail on her iPhone is of the upmost importance, she should contact her cellular phone company to explore option to upgrade to a device that is iOS 5 compatible.

Jim:
For the record, I'm very disappointed in how Apple is handling this transition for iPhone 3G users. Thank you for your help.
