STEP1: Rename the local branch | |
git branch -m old_branch new_branch | |
STEP2: Delete the old-remote branch & push othe new renamed local branch | |
git push origin :old_branch # Delete the old branch | |
git push --set-upstream origin new_branch # Push the new branch, set local branch to track the new remote | |

git push origin :old_branch new_branch # perform the 2 operations at once | |
