A rough draft of my professional story
I wasn't always sure what I wanted to be in life, but I knew that wherever I would decide to go; I would need to work hard in order to get there. Having a strong work ethic is something that I've gotten instilled in me from my father, and I try to apply it to everything that I do in life. I've done just about every kind of hard manual labor, from construction, to overnight warehouse work, to landscaping, to moving furniture. I've never been afraid to get my hands dirty and do whatever it takes to get the job done. I actually enjoyed working at all of those different jobs, it's very rewarding to see all of your hard work result in someones lawn looking pristine, or seeing the smiles on your customers face when you get them all moved into their new home. Throughout my 20's I was mostly content with living for myself, and working in order to provide for myself.
The spring season is symbolic for new beginnings, and in the spring of 2017 I met a girl who would change my life forever. And that girl is now my wife. I thank the big man upstairs everyday for having our paths cross, because not only has she made me a better person, she's changed my whole outlook on life. I started shifting my perspective from just providing for myself, to now providing for both me and her. And we now share the same dream of one day providing for kids of our own. Given my new outlook on life, my outlook on my future career has changed immensely. I've always been pretty comfortable working with computers, and installing programs, and I had some very basic html practice from building a music website back in the day. So as I began to search for a new career that would help build a better future for my wife and I, I came across the Turing school of software and design. With my past interest in tech, my hard work ethic, and my new outlook on life I decided to pull the trigger and enroll there. And I am so glad that I did! Only having attended the school for a little over 2 months, I've gone from a novice to building websites, apps, and games, and building a portfolio that showcases all of those things! I am very excited for my future in tech and working as a software developer. With a positive mindset and a hard work ethic, I believe that anything is possible. And I truly cannot wait to see what my future in tech has in store for me!

Hey Kevin, I appreciated getting to read your story here, and you've done a nice job of moving through your 3 specific motives that brought you to this career. For future iterations, I would recommend honing in on what specifically about programming has been fun for you now that you're in it; you mentioned that you've learned a lot and are able to build a lot of things now -- what excites you about continuing this work? What will you be excited to build in the future? And while it's wonderful how you are driven to provide a great life for you and your wife, motives related more directly to your passion for programming may resonate more fully with employers, so keep in mind how you might tweak this story depending on the audience. Great job overall!
