What is your greatest strength and how do you know? My greatest strength is probably my work ethic. I know this because once I set my mind to a task; I truly believe that I will do whatever it takes in order to successfully complete that task. I've had to work very physically demanding jobs in the past, and those are nearly impossible to succeed at unless your have a great work ethic. I am confident that I will be able to continue this work ethic during my time at turing.
How do you work best? I believe I work best in groups. I like being able to bounce ideas off of different people and absorb information from other people that I'm working with. I adhere to the old adage that "two heads are better than one". The better a team of co-workers can work together without friction, the better the entire project will be.
What is your greatest area of improvement? I could definitely use more improvement in my coding skills and acumen. I don't have a ton of experience in this field but I am truly curious and passionate about learing more on the subject. I also sometimes find it hard to ask for help because I don't want to come off as unintelligent. Sometimes I like to work independently if someone in my group isn't very cooperative so I can probably work on my patience with others as well.
How do you hope to maximize your strengths for your new career in software development? I hope to maximize my work ethic by completing tasks as soon as I can, and not just rushing through them. I hope to improve my "can do" attitude even more by surrounding myself with positive people, and not getting too hung up on my problems. I hope to improve my teamwork skills even more by effictively communicating even better than I have in the past, and also by showing gratitude and accepting our differences as well. I hope to also improve my imagination creativity even more by reading more often, trying new things, and looking at things differently.
How might knowing about your strengths and working preferences benefit you as a software developer? Knowing about your strengths can lead to greater work satisfaction, engagement, and greater productivity. Already knowing that I have a good work ethic will allow me to relax a little knowing that as long as I do what I'm capable of doing, my work will be productive. By already knowing that I have good interpersonal skills, I can showcase those and allow myself to develop positive relationships and engage with the people that I'll be working with every day. It also helps you to grow more. Knowing what you can excel at enables you to aim higher and achieve much more.
