Print lines directly to Epson LX-350 Dot Matrix Printer from MacOS (rather than pages)

How to send unformatted text directly to an Epson LX-350 Dot Matrix Printer from MacOS. Useful if you want to print text line-by-line rather than page-by-page

Install Printer as a Raw printer

The backend of the MacOS printing uses the CUPS print server

  1. Plug the printer in via usb
  2. Open the CUPS Webpage
    1. Go to http://localhost:631/printers/
  3. If it doesn't load, type cupsctl WebInterface=yes into Terminal

Substack data downloads don't include the post images, only the HTML. This script reads all the html files in the current folder, and downloads the image from each url in the srcset into the ./images folder

Rename DICOM file based on Instance Creation Date/Time, and Patient Comments. Handy if you're using an ex-medical X-Ray machine for electronic components, and are using the patient comments metadata field to differentiate between which scan is which.

Set Up Adafruit Boards

  1. Open Arduino IDE (I'm using 2.0.3)
  2. Open Adafruit IDE -> Preferences
  3. Add this URL to the Additional boards manager URLs https://adafruit.github.io/arduino-board-index/package_adafruit_index.json 4. Click the two squares icon at the right of the text box
