Reflection

  1. What is your greatest strength and how do you know?
  • I would say my greatest strength would be my ability to reach benchmarks or milestones via a unique path. Many people can take pre-existing paths to reach a goal from a given location. I have always forged my own and that has worked best for me. This includes reaching professional, academic and personal goals. This is not to say that help or guidance or instruction isn’t used it is just formatted in my own way.
  1. How do you work best?
  • I work best with a team. I know this as my most significant achievements have been in a team setting. School has always been hard for me and so I’m not entirely sure how I work best with regard to school. As far as education goes, if it is something I’m passionate about I’ll learn it!
  1. What is your greatest area of improvement?
  • My greatest area in need of improvement is definitely public speaking and gaining confidence, composure and a level head in public situations. I don’t want to be shy forever, in fact very much the opposite. This is also a big reason I am attending Turing.
  1. How do you hope to maximize your strengths for your new career in software development?
  • I am an intellect who makes new and creative things and I think this is the essence of software development. If I can bring these skills into my new career as planned I will be very happy.
  1. How might knowing about your strengths and working preferences benefit you as a software developer?
  • Knowing strengths and weaknesses help in many more areas than just being a software developer. Change starts with the conscious acknowledgement of a behavior. Once you know it exists, then you can begin to push boundaries and change them. These are things that will be in progress hopefully throughout the duration of my life. Once a behavior is acknowledged and improved, then the same steps can be applied to the next.
