so... same issue. how did you fix it?

I had this same problem. Some detective work revealed weirdness (even with a correct PATH):

$ which python
/usr/bin/python
$ brew install python
Warning: python-2.7.5 already installed
$ python --version
Python 2.7.1
$ brew link python
Warning: Already linked: /usr/local/Cellar/python/2.7.5

Yeah, weird.

$ brew unlink python
$ brew upgrade git
(snip)
$ brew install python
(snip)

$ which python
/usr/local/bin/python
$ which git
/usr/local/bin/git

I'm not sure how it got FUBAR like that in the first place, which is troubling, but everything seems to be working nicely for now.
