The Side Hustle

Idea #1

Converting Cannonz Over to Swift and/or Mobile Friendly

  • MVP for this project would be to be able to play this game on my iPhone.
  • Future Iterations
    • More levels
    • Higher level of difficulty
    • Jorge Mode
    • Sound Effects
    • Animations
  • I want to build this side project mainly so I can send it to friends and family easily. I sent them my web app originally in an email and they all replied to me with the same thing, "but I can't play it on my phone.."
  • I'll create issues for myself and use something like sprint.ly to keep me on track.
  • I would ask Chris Chares over at 303 Software to take a look at my code. He's the only person I know that works primarily in Swift. Also Jill Donahue is also learning Swift so she might be get to keep in touch with.
  • I would get this out into the world by tweeting it out. Sending it to everyone I know. And getting it onto the App Store would be dope too.

Idea #2

A Customizable Pomodoro Clock written in React

  • My MVP would be a Pomo clock that is customizable as to how long the intervals and also what sound it makes. I would really like this to be mobile friendly so I could use it anywhere with my phone.
  • Future Iterations
    • customizable colors
    • customizable sounds
    • customizable time intervals
    • ability to hold calls during a work time and giving you the alert during the break
  • It's something that I rarely do, which is take pomodoro breaks. I like productivity apps, I just rarely use them. Maybe if I make one from scratch I'll be more inclined to use it myself.
  • Github Issues and sprint.ly
  • Regis I always want Regis's feedback.
  • I could definitely tweet this out, but this is a very saturated market I would imagine. I would be happy sending it to everyone I know and hearing there feedback. Then maybe customizing it to their specifications.

Idea #3

The Doctor/Big Pharma Relationship App

  • MVP for this project would be for you to type in a doctor's name or a hospital's name and find out how much money they have taken in from Pharmaceutical companies.
  • Future Iterations
    • See top pharmaceutical earners for each year
    • See if there's a correlation between how much money they receive and which drugs they prescribe.
    • See if I can find any trends as far as which drugs get prescribed the most in which months of the year
    • Correlations between locations and quantities/types of drugs being prescribed
    • Correlations between those drugs being prescribed and how many people die from them - this one might be hard to get data for.
  • This is a side project that is dear to my heart. I want to build an app that exposes corruption and greed. Pharmaceutical companies wield way too much power when it comes to our health. They're not about making the world healtier, they're about profiteering off of people's suffering.
  • Github Issues are kind of my jam
  • I know she doesn't want to code anymore but I would consult Hedy since she's passionate about this project as well.
  • I would definitely tweet about it, but when it's ready I would love to have it featured on a well known site and get the information into as many hands as possible.
