| (not to be confused with the T.V. show named suits, which just so happens to be pretty rad) | |

| Over the years, there has been something so revolutionary, so extraordinary, so simple, that has changed lives. It goes unnoticed, but is the center of attention, it has the ability to sway minds, it is a game changer. As stated by the Poet Sandra M. Gilbert | |
| "All night, when you lie naked in your bed, (dreaming of feathers), we bear the imprint of your shape, like the old hammock in your mother's back yard. No matter where you go we wait for you, we wait and wait." | |
| What is this mystery item? Who better to tell us than Barney Stinson, suit enthusiast | |
| “Lesson one: lose the goatee. It doesn't go with your suit. Lesson two: get a suit. Suits are cool” | |
| Suits are an essential piece of todays male, and sometimes female professional attire, however suits were not always around. Nor are they all the same, varying materials and styles demand higher prices. However, the suit has become a pillar of authority and professionalism. | |
| Around 1650 men where dressed quite amusingly, wear garments such as the doublet, hose, and cloaks, none of which could demand the respect that a suit could bring. During King Louis XIV’s 72 year reign, he began a male clothing movement, he began to wear coats, vests and breeches, the main components of modern male attire. At this point English Tailors ruled the male fashion scene, with a sporting looked aimed at the newly rich industrialists. Perfecting their craft and honing their styles they were able to develop the very suits we wear today. | |
| How can you tell if your suit has been perfected you ask? Is it worth that hefty price tag? Well there are three main things to look for in a suit, the wrinkle test, the canvas test, and of course the style. This test is simple, intentionally try to wrinkle it for about a minute, once you release it should retake its form within a minute. This important because your suit shouldn’t become a wrinkled mess while you are wearing it. The canvas test, find a button hole, pinch on either side of it, if you can feel a 3rd layer you have a higher quality hand sewn jacket, which will fit nicer and last longer, than it glued relative. And lastly, how you look in your suit is what matters the most, find a style and size that fits you properly. | |
| Looks, and quality have impact, they can build rapport without any spoken word. A suit can be used to convey a message with more seriousness, and more authority. A suit has a power of its own, far beyond what its wearer can say, and its wearers have said great things “Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?” - Abraham Lincoln. Or as Martin Luther King, Jr. said “A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.” All which would have have much less if no impact when said in a tank top and bathing suit, or jeans and a t-shirt. Looking the part will only enhance it’s impact. | |
| Wether you plan to sip on wine and enjoy cheese while getting sized for a suit as explained by Marilyn Miller, or are just trying to get the right suit, it remains important to know why we wear suits, how to ensure you pick a quality suit and how it will impact your life and others. So we leave with this quote “Think of me as Yoda. Only instead of being little and green, I wear suits and I'm awesome. I'm your bro. I'm Broda.” - Barney Stinson. | |
