Our admin panel relies on a CKEditor license key to power the rich text editors. This key expires every 14 days. To prevent the text editors from breaking or failing to load, a new key must be generated and saved in the system before the current one expires.
Follow the exact steps below to generate and apply a new key in just a few minutes.
To get a fresh 14-day trial key, you need a new email address each time. The easiest way to do this without cluttering your real inbox is to use a free, temporary email service called Yopmail.
- Open your web browser and go to yopmail.com.
- In the "Type the Email name of your choice" box, type a random, unique name (for example:
cis-editor-update-01). - Click the Check Inbox button (the arrow icon).
- Leave this tab open—you will need it in a moment to verify your CKEditor account.
Now that you have an email address, you can register for a new CKEditor trial.
- Open a new browser tab and go to the CKEditor Sign-Up Page (ckeditor.com).
- Fill out the registration form using the Yopmail address you just created.
- Submit the form. CKEditor will send a verification link to that email.
- Go back to your Yopmail tab. Refresh the inbox if necessary, and open the email from CKEditor.
- Click the Verify Email / Activate Account link inside the email.
- Once verified, log in to your new CKEditor dashboard.
- Navigate to the License / Subscriptions section.
- Locate your new trial license key and click Copy.
(Optional: If you prefer using your official work email instead of Yopmail, you can use the "alias" trick. If your email is [email protected], you can register as [email protected], then [email protected], etc. All emails will still route to your main inbox.)
Now that you have copied the new key, you just need to tell our system to use it. The admin application automatically pulls this key from the backend whenever it loads.
- Log in to our Admin Panel.
- Navigate to the Editor Settings page.
- Delete the old, expired key from the input box.
- Paste the new CKEditor license key you copied in Phase 2.
- Click the Save License Key button.
- Hard-refresh the admin panel page (Press
Ctrl + Shift + Ron Linux/Windows orCmd + Shift + Ron Mac). - Navigate to any page in the admin panel that uses the rich text editor.
- Confirm that the editor loads correctly and functions normally.
You are all set for the next 14 days!
