- Establish process-structure linkages for AM30 Magnesium alloy during channel-die compression. These linkages will reveal the effect of process parameters like temperature, strain rate and strain level on the evolution of texture during channel-die compression.
- Orientation map datasets generated from EBSD are provided by Prof Haitham El Kadiri, Mississippi State University
- EBSD datasets containing orientation maps are generated at different processing conditions of temperature, strain rate and strain level
- 2-D pixel data containing crystal orientations for Mg alloy polycrystalline material generated at different processing conditions.
- Extract relevant structure data (orientations) from provided EBSD dataset (.oim files) along with all relevant metadata describing the process conditions of channel-die compression tests.
- Generate statistics (2-point statistics) from structure data consisting of crystal orientations extracted from orientation maps.
- Use dimensionality reduction techniques like PCA to obtain objective reduced order representation of structure.
- Establish process-structure linkages for this system
- Week 1-2: Collecting Data and Image segmentation - Defining microstructure functions
