Falling
I started before I could walk
to be in practice for life, but forgot 
early. by the time I was three
or four I was running and jumping
and no longer falling. 
At twenty-nine I started learning
again. I fell short on my own 
expectations and, on a date,
out of a canoe into a lake.
on stage, into an opportunity.
I fell, entirely by surprise,
into a fortune when my grandfather died. 
Then I fell in with a bad crowd 
and out with a good friend. 
I went travelling and fell 
into one tourist trap
after another until I met you. 
we broke out of the map 
into the jungle, where we got lost, and
I fell asleep
and dreamt of dying. We woke, found ourselves
and laughed until we couldn’t stop 
crying.
