Credit advertising is annoying and a waste of paper. Plus all the exact same deals are available online! Stop those jerks from mailing you for life. Only works in the US. But is probably also only a problem in the US. Capitalism rocks!
- Call 1 888 567 8688
- Press 3 to "remove your name for life." Five years is also an option, but go hard or go home.
- If you are comfortable saying your SSN over the phone, fine. I am not, so I will show you how to proceed without entering an SSN. Fair warning, the process is a little more involved. But I don't like the idea of credit reporting agencies or snoops knowing who I am, as phone calls are not encrypted.
- Enter an invalid SSN 3 times: For example "0"
- You will then be prompted for a DOB, phone number, name and address
- A letter will arrive in the mail asking for your signature that, yes, you don't want spam for the rest of your life. And trust me, you don't
- So go ahead and sign it and postmark it back (the jerks won't even pay for return postage so you'll have to buy a stamp yourself)
- Boom! Enjoy your life free of idiotic credit deals you could easily find yourself if you wanted them.
