- Building software is half strategy and half improvisation
- Understanding does not always lead to fluency, and simply having an eager imagination does not always pass as a shortcut for putting in the hard work.
- The disregard of rote memorization is a failure of imagination.
2. How to Use Google to Solve Your Programming Questions by Coding in Flow (15 min)

- Narrowing the time span, because information can be changed. Using set the time span in the “Tools” menu under the search box helps to find new changes.
- Using quotation marks to search for specific phrases. When you put quotation marks around text, it will search for that exact phrase.
- Excluding words with “-“. Google has possibility to exclude words from the search by putting a minus (-) in front of them.
3. Do Experienced Programmers Use Google Frequently? by Umer Mansoor (10 min)

- Experienced (and good) programmers use Google a lot and more than the beginners.
- Good programmers also know that they cannot be the first one to have encountered a problem. They use Google to research possible solutions, carefully evaluating the results and consciously separating the wheat from the chaff; they don’t blindly follow or copy-paste any solution they come across.
4. 20 Google Search Tips to Use Google More Efficiently by Joseph Hindy (15 min)
- Briefly describe (in your own words) each of the tips below AND provide an example of a search that captures the sentiment of the tip: Use the tabs. Exp: find "mountain wallpapers" in tab "images"
- Tip 2: Use quotes to find a specific information. Exp: "yellow mustang gt 2018"
- Tip 3: Use a hyphen to exclude words. Exp: "Animals -zoo"
- Tip 4: Use a colon to search specific sites. Exp: "Florida site:nytimes.com";
- Tip 9: Search for multiple words at once. Exp: "pancakes OR french toast"
- Tip 13: Use words that websites would use. Exp: "My computer doesn't work" --> "Repair a computer"
- Tip 14: Use important words only. Exp: "Where can I wash my car and don't spend a lot of money" ---> "Cheapest car wash"
- Tip 17: Use descriptive words. Exp: "no internet" --> "Troubleshoot internet connection"
