<ovrflw0x> if i buy synology NAS and format it with EXT3, then can i stream media from it to a Blu ray player which supports Fat32 format?
<ovrflw0x> will the blu ray player be able to read from it?
<ovrflw0x> anybody alive!?

<ovrflw0x> anybody
<ovrflw0x> hellllloooOOlll!
<Ethos> Sometimes you need to wait more than 5 minutes
<ovrflw0x> what do you say Ethos will it work?
<-- messere (~messere@gateway/tor-sasl/messere) has quit (Quit: Leaving)
<ovrflw0x> does synology have some built in dlna stuff that can make files visible in wifi bluray player
<xand> ovrflw0x: the bluray player wouldn't know what format the server is using
<ovrflw0x> why?
<xand> because the server doesn't tell it that information
<ovrflw0x> how will it show the files then
<Lingerance> Because no network protocol for filesharing exposes that information.
<Lingerance> Nor does it need to as the protocol handles file listing/fetching.
<ovrflw0x> ok then it doesn't matter if synology NAS is ext3? bluray will be able to play the files?
<ovrflw0x> since synology is dlna compliant
<xand> it'll use either SMB/CIFS or UPnP/DLNA to share the files
--> hochron ([email protected]) has joined ##networking
<xand> ovrflw0x: yes, it doesn't matter. the files might need to use the right codec (video format) though.
<ovrflw0x> what do you mean by that
