The Post-Grad Job Search Action Plan

Step 1: Create a Calendar

Step 2: Help Us Help You

  1. What motivates you?

I want the opportunity to work in a career that is more fulfilling. A career where I feel like I am actually pushing myself and utilzing my brain.

  2. How will you keep yourself going when faced with rejection in the job search?

Just have to remind myself that it wasn't the job for me, which doesn't mean that there is no job for me. Just means that the specific job wasn't the right fit. There is other opportunities out there, so it is to be expected that there will be a lot of rejections.

  3. How will you hold yourself accountable to your plans? (Ex: Attend Mod 5, meet with cohortmates, attend Kayt's coffee shop hours, etc.)

I plan to keep a schedule like the one listed above. In addition, I will try to hit weekly goals that I will set for myself. For example, I would like to try to reach out to 3 cold outreaches a week. Think it would be valuable to set these invididual goals, so I have something to focus on each week.

  4. How do you like to communicate?

I have no personal preference on communcation, I'm comfortable in person or over messaging. I plan on visiting Turing or a space outside of my apartment often. I feel like I can easily loose focus if I do the job search from home.

  5. What is your ideal job?

Honestly, I'm not 100 percent certain yet. I know that I enjoy coding and would like to pursue either a Front End or Full Stack position. Though I'm not certain as to what industry I would be looking the most forward to. It would be great to have some time in an office space, however I feel comfortable with the posibility of a remote position.

  6. What has been your approach to the job search so far?

I have had some coffee meetups with Turing alumni and applied for some easy to apply positions. My main focus has been on Turing during my time so far, so I would like to start buckling down more on the job search once I've graduated.

  7. What could you use help with?

As I've mentioned, I don't feel knowledgeable in the possible opportunities out there such as possible industries. I would appreciate a chance to see what are my options, so I can try to fine tune the list of jobs I'm searching for.

  8. Anything else you'd like Kayt to know?

I have a background in Art, Museums, and Advertising. Thus I think an opportunity related could peak my interest, however like I said I don't know much of what is out there.
