DTR: Define the Relationship - Sam & Brandy
Guiding Questions to Define The Relationship:
What is your collaboration style? How do you feel about pair programming vs. divide-and-conquer approaches?
- Starting off focusing on more of a pair programming approach to build out structure of the project.
- Then once we feel we have a strongly defined structure, then we will move on to divide-and-conquer.
How do you communicate best? How do you appreciate receiving communication from others?
- Frequently, honestly and openly
- Revist the DTR midway through the project.
- In person as much as possible. If not then utilize Slack DM for any additional communication.
What are each of our strengths? How can our strengths complement each other?
- Brandy - strong communication, focused on what is best for the project, very organized
- Sam - empathic, driven to accomplish specific tasks, willingness to learn in relationship to code
- Leaning on each other's strengths and we are both committed to the work. In addition, both are willing to compromise to ensure the project is well executed.
What’s gone well or poorly in your previous projects?
- positive - similar learning styles, honesty first, frequently pairing together
- negative - poor communication, incompatible levels of commitment, lack of interest in pairing
How will we set direction and make decisions as a team?
- Project management tool
- A short meeting every day after school to touch base on what needs to be completed and how.
- Set a schedule for paired programming.
What scheduling restraints do you have? What are your scheduling preferences?
- Leave mornings open
- Work after school as a pair till 6-7
- Brandy - Taking son out for dinner Sunday night
Goals for the project.
- Take our time to address each iteration before moving on to the next one.
- The major goal of the project is to learn first.
