DTR: Define the Relationship - Sam & Jacob Project: Palette Picker

Guiding Questions to Define The Relationship:

What is your collaboration style? How do you feel about pair programming vs. divide-and-conquer approaches?

  • Both are great in general.
  • Starting off focusing on more of a pair programming approach to build out structure of the project.
  • Make sure we're on the same page first before splitting apart.
  • Then once we feel we have a strongly defined structure, then we will move on to divide-and-conquer.

How do you communicate best? How do you appreciate receiving communication from others?

  • Frequently, honestly and openly
  • Revist the DTR midway through the project.
  • In person as much as possible. If not then utilize Slack DM for any additional communication.

What are each of our strengths? How can our strengths complement each other?

  • Jacob - Well rounded understanding, proactive - likes accomplishing tasks, resourceful - comfortable researching answers
  • Sam - empathic, driven to accomplish specific tasks, willingness to learn in relationship to code
  • We both like to work hard and accomplish our project goals. At the same time, we will learn a lot.

What’s gone well or poorly in your previous projects?

  • positive - focus on being available and communication when you can't be
  • negative - poor communication, incompatible levels of commitment, lack of interest in pairing

How will we set direction and make decisions as a team?

  • Project management - GitHub Project
  • Touchbase often and in person

What scheduling restraints do you have? What are your scheduling preferences?

  • React meetup next Tuesday
  • Saturday mornings are for non-coding
  • Jacob - Job stuff in the morning
  • Sam - Job stuff late at night
