Contributing Guidelines - for Makers

Contributing Guidelines

Hello! We're so glad you are interested in producing components for the extraordinarily in-demand PPE face shields which our local hospitals desperately need. To help facilitate this endeavor, we've created these guidelines to help make the process clear and simple.

What to make

Any and all components are currently in-demand. So feel free to make whichever one you are comfortable and setup to create. At this time, we are okay with accepting just shields, or just frames, or both.

3D Printed File

Once you're ready to go, feel free to start 3D printing or cutting the acrylic parts. We are standardizing on a single model, to help with the logistics of sourcing all the necessary components.

Here is a direct link to the approved STL file which our hospitals have already vetted. https://github.com/Cederb/Faceshield.nu/blob/master/North%20America/3D%20Printing%20Files%20(STL)/Visor_Frame_NORTH_AMERICA_letter_6-hole_v5.stl

Hole Punched Acrylic Shield

You can find the assembly instructions for the acrylic/vinyl shield by going to the bottom of this page. To be explicitly clear, we are producing the "NORTH AMERICA" model (which has a red picture). https://3dverkstan.se/protective-visor/protective-visor-versions/

Keeping track of inventory

Once you have started fabrication please add your name to the first tab of this shared excel doc, bookmark it, and keep your numbers up-to-date. The intention is that we have a clear picture of exactly how many items are ready-to-go at any given moment. https://1drv.ms/x/s!AkbFK4XKOTyqwl-WCxPcubYEv9rI?e=u8RmAi

Come get my stuff!

After you have built some frames or visors and feel like you want them to go somewhere, simply flip the switch in that first column and set your row as "Ready for Pickup". This will let the Road Warrior team know that they can reach out to you and coordinate the best way to collect your inventory.

After your parts are picked up / dropped off

Yay! It's awesome that your contributions are on the way to those who need them most. Take a moment to get hyped about how you are helping make a difference in our community.

Afterwards please visit the inventory excel doc (https://1drv.ms/x/s!AkbFK4XKOTyqwl-WCxPcubYEv9rI?e=u8RmAi) and zero out your numbers. We want to make sure it is an accurate reflection of current inventory so we can identify where to go next in order to maximize our efficiency :)

Thank you so much for helping out!
