Reflection of my path so far

Why have you been successful up to this point at Turing?

  • The community and environment have honestly helped me the most

  • Being surrounded by tech helps to encourage me and remind me of the change I'm trying to make in my life.

How are you able to learn new technologies and grow new skills on your own?

  • Youtube and blogs have really helped me to better grasp the concepts I'm working with. It helps to hear somebody else explain their point of view on a topic

  • Diving in and just throwing stuff at the wall also helps me to understand what does and doesn't work. When I run into something that doesn't work, I really learn why it doesn't work and can avoid that in the future!

What areas of your technical practice feel most engaging? When do you do your best work?

  • I do my best work when I'm partnered with others who also are really interested in the project.

  • Having others depend on me really helps to keep me accountable and on task.

  • Although it's unhealthy, I enjoy my late night coding sessions. No distractions, because everyone else is asleep. So I can really get into my flow state.

How does your technical work here link to the ways your want to learn and grow in your job/career?

  • At my future job I am really looking forward to learning from others.

  • As well as getting into a rhythm and flow that is consistant.

How will your Gear Up sessions impact you as a software developer?

  • This mod we've had some talks that really encourage debate and articulation of points. I feel that practicing those skills can translate to any topic, building your side of the discussion to encourage rich conversation
