Python script to connect to Tor via Stem and Privoxy, requesting a new connection (hence a new IP as well) as desired.

Crawling Anonymously with Tor in Python

adapted from the article "Crawling anonymously with Tor in Python" by S. Acharya, Nov 2, 2013.

The most common use-case is to be able to hide one's identity using TOR or being able to change identities programmatically, for example when you are crawling a website like Google and you don’t want to be rate-limited or blocked via IP address.

Install Tor.

G1GC / CMS

G1GC v.s. CMS for Cassandra 2.0

Many people have asked me about using the G1 garbage collector with Cassandra. Since most of my customers are running 2.0 in production the test is with 2.0 for now. Once I script it up I'll re-run the numbers with 2.1.

I also need to re-test with Java 7 and the Oracle JDKs.

TL;DR

Lava Lamp Random Number Generator

Lava Lamp Random Number Generator

(extracted from the now defunct SGI project at http://lavarand.sgi.com/cgi-bin/how.cgi via the magical Internet Archive Wayback Machine)

Lava Lamps can be used as a source of randomness, which can be used to establish a random number generator. The output of the RNG can then be consumed by various computer applications.

Step 1: Establish a chaotic system

(Set up Lava Lite® lamps in a machine room.)
