Dear Solnse,
I am in deep trouble after CHKDSK started at reboot (win7) to check a partition (for data, not the OS), and strongly suggested I let it run, which I did. CHKDSK ended up wiping the MFT clean and its mirror, and deleting then entire content of that partition, about 250GB in total. This is a PC I use for work.
I found your CHKDSK output by googling "Unable to find child frs 0x10 with sequence number 0x10..."
My output is identical to yours, but for the number and name of indices that were deleted. Here's the summary table.
...Windows has made corrections to the file system
..
... 243862527 KB total disk space
... 12 KB in 8 indexes
... 0 KB in bad sectors
... 73431 KB in use by the system
... 65536 KB occupied by the log file
... 243789084 KB available on disk
..
... 4096 bytes in each allocation unit
... 60965631 total allocation units on disk
... 60947271 allocation units available on disk
I have not mounted the partition since. I made a copy. Using linux to read each sector of the copy, I can see the files, although they sit in sectors that are now 'unallocated'.
I am now still looking for a way to rebuilt the MFT. I have now spent over a week, day and night, on that issue and would very much like to know if you had any luck in sorting your problem.
Could you please advise?
Steph
