The Umpire needs to ensure the "fair play" of the "game".
He asks "is this team / Group (Progressive Voice) misleading voters"?
Voters are advised that the group / party running as "Progressive Voice" in the Guild Elections has had 3 name changes:-
1. It was originally named by the candidates as "Student Action"
2. The candidates then changed the name to "Student Labor"
3. The "Umpire" (RO) then rejected use of the name "Student Labor".
4. The Group then changed the name to "Progressive Voice".
On Friday, about one hour before the close of nominations, the "umpire" received the name change from "Student Action" to "Student Labor". At the same time a nomination was lodged by that group for the Guild President position from a candidate named Cameron Barnes.
The "Umpire" halted the game.
The "Star" Group nomination for the position of Guild President was the 5th Year Law/Arts student (also named Cameron Barnes). (At that time Star also nominated over 60 candidates).
This meant that there was two Cameron Barnes nominating for the Guild President position.
The "Student Labor" group had asked a USA exchange student by the name of Cameron Barnes to nominate for Guild President.
On Saturday The "Umpire" spoke to Cameron Barnes from New Mexico and asked for the details of his Student Exchange Visa and advised that as it expired in the middle of the next year he would be unable to fulfil the duties of The Guild President.
On Monday, Cameron Barnes from New Mexico requested that the "Umpire" withdraw him from the game by withdrawing his nomination for Guild President with the "Student Labor" Group. He is not playing. The RO made a determination to allow this.
More updates may follow.
