I am a graduate from IIT Kharagpur, 2017 Batch in Materials Science. I attempted 2017 prelims(CSP) right out of college and luckily was able to make it to mains 2017. While it was a confidence booster, it made me aware of the changing pattern of importance of current affairs in preparation.
Besides preparing for UPSC since 2017 (basically, since 'out of college'), I have been practising yoga as a hobby to keep me engaged and healthy. Over few (3) years, I have realised how important it is to churn out 15 min yoga session even on a mains day! Phew! that was tough. I write poems - both in Hindi and English. Some of them are published on my blog here. It ranges from philosophical to something as mundane as a lemon - नीम्बू.
Prior to this exam (UPSC CSE), I had not engaged in any activity for more than a year. My only prior "committed love" had been Genetic Algorithms during my masters at IIT Kharagpur which is an amusing art. This preparation was vast, non-technical and demanded common sense in a lot of areas - something my 2017 version lacked. So, it came as an opportunity to work on these areas for personal growth.
Strength : Consistency (beats talent), Enthusiasm, punctuality Weakness overcome during preparation : Switching activities and leaving things in middle, depression issues during initial part of second attempt (that was first time!), being careless about small things such as eating, sleeping habits
