@_DavidSmith check out http://t.co/HLnqLnah8k it has a good list. https://twitter.com/JohnNoonan/status/464439111109980160
Nice! I enjoy many of those, and see a few new ones I'll have to try, thanks!

@_DavidSmith Ask Me Another http://t.co/Swgi3eeVib https://twitter.com/hokiewalrus/status/464439833281040384
@_DavidSmith Unsure if @opticalpodcast meets your criteria, but if you like movies and special effects, I highly recommend it! https://twitter.com/palimondo/status/464440664651202560
I also recommend The Word Nerds for both native and non-native English speakers. It is “A podcast about words, language, and why we say the things we do.”
Itʼs been dead for a long time but the old episodes are still there and I remember that it was one of my favorite podcasts back in the day.
I really dig "Philosophize This!". http://www.philosophizethis.org/
At present, it's the only podcast I listen to every week. Nice, friendly, terrific coverage of philosophy and philosophers starting from the pre-socrates and going in order through time.
I have other subscriptions, but most are tech or news related and I get that coverage elsewhere; "Philosophize This!" has a plan that keeps each episode interesting.
Not completely sure what you mean by accessible, but here are some of my favorite non-tech podcasts.
Backstory: http://backstoryradio.org/
Filmspotting: http://www.filmspotting.net/
The Flophouse: http://flophousepodcast.com/
Hardcore History: http://www.dancarlin.com/disp.php/hh
Pediacast: http://www.pediacast.org/
Some of these were mentioned in the comments above but still wanted to give them their due. And show how cool I am for listening to them.
Edit: Added links so people didn't have to hunt for them to find out more info.
I'm not a parent, but I hear great things about Turning This Car Around.
@_DavidSmith @TenMinPod is great https://twitter.com/_kyle_fox/status/464445733308219392
What about the Erasable Podcast? It's about wooden pencils.
(Bias warning: I'm one of the co-hosts.)
My favorite non-tech podcast is Sound Opinions, it's a great source for new music and interesting interviews with artists.
Stuff You Should Know.
And also, Above & Beyond.
Bullseye with Jesse Thorn is always a joy. Great mix of interviews with musicians, authors, actors and more.
Leftfielding. (Feed.)
Turning This Car Around. A really funny podcast with Jon Armstrong, Lex Friedman and John Moltz. I think they talk about parenting. Sometimes.
@_DavidSmith I'd add The Memory Palace https://twitter.com/andysz/status/464437725488492545
