MvM Patch Changes

As someone with an unholy amount of MvM playtime, this is a list of changes/improvements/reworks I'd like to see in a potential "MvM Refresh" update. All of these changes should be easily attainable without much new code since they are simple tweaks to stats, and reuse of existing elements.

Commentary is included in block quotes for each change.

The overall 'theme' of these changes is to break up the meta without invalidating that playstyle. When possible, classes once considered invaluable in most circumstances will have some of their functionality attainable by other classes, allowing folks to fit needed roles in a match without being forced to play specific classes. Similarly, weapons that were considered must-runs now have some competition.

Season of Discovery Phase 8 Introduction

Welcome to Phase 8

Phase 8 of SoD introduces an entire new neutral town called New Avalon, extending out from Tyr's Hand. This town is home to Phase 8's raid, Scarlet Enclave.

In order to gain access to the town, there is a short attunement questline. Being attuned to Naxxramas is a requirement in order to gain access to New Avalon's attunement questline. It is not currently known if the town's attunement is required for access to the Scarlet Enclave raid, as it seems the Scarlet Enclave instance portal is located in front of the town. Only time will tell.

Before continuing with this guide, be sure to update Questie - it will help a lot. The majority of Wowhead's data is currently missing or inaccurate regarding this content. Questie has been updated for P8 as of v10.19.2.

Season of Discovery BWL Guide

Blackwing Lair Guide

These guides were based on SoM strategies from memory, combined with SoD PTR testing. They are being actively updated with changes from the launch of Season of Discovery's BWL.

(last updated 9/29/24)

BWL is a weekly lockout (resets Tuesday). It's tuned for 20 players, but accepts up to 40 players. Loot does not change based on player count, which means the more players you bring, the more likely you are to kill each boss, but the less loot each player will receive on average.

In SoD, BWL has five additional difficulty modifiers you can enable. Once enabled, they can be disabled in that lockout, but if you disable one that you've enabled, you cannot enable it again for the rest of that lockout.

These difficulty modifiers are 'Trials' of the 5 dragonflights: Red, Blue, Green, Bronze, and Black. Most of these modifiers add an additional mechanic to each encounter that is the same across all encounters. These trials can be enabled by talking to Victor Nefriendius at the start of
