Answer: I feel my greatest strength is my positive attitude and enthusiasm for new things. I find I am generally excited to embark on new adventures. I know this because I feel positive emotions when confronted with new challenges. I also feel excitement for new projects.
Answer: I am an easily distracted person. I find I work best when when I am isolated from distractions. I am most efficient in an environment with less or no people to talk to. I have found wearing headphones helps eliminate distractions.
Answer: Sometimes I tend to procrastinate and choose fun activities over responsibilities. This is a characteristic I wish to improve upon. I also feel I should work on recognizing distractions and eliminating them before they become an issue. These are qualities I intend to work on throughout my time at Turing.
Answer: I intend to continue to be positive and excited/curious as a software developer. I should be able to accomplish this by reminding myself of why I choose a new career path later in life. After 16 years in the restaurant industry, I decided to pursue a career in tech with the ability to work remotely. I am very eager to start this new chapter!
5. How might knowing about your strengths and working preferences benefit you as a software developer?
Answer: I feel it is important to understand how one thinks and what circumstances produce the best outcome. Knowing this information can lead to better productivity at work. During my time at Turing I plan to work on further improving my strengths while addressing my weaknesses. I also intend to identify the environments where I thrive, and strive to put myself into those environments as much as possible.
