Simulation

What is a Simulation?

A simulation is a symbolic relationship that exists between a symbol and its symbolic meaning, according to the philosophical theory of Simulacra and Simulation by Jean Baudrillard. A simulation is a representation of a real-world system or process, which can be used to study how the real-world system works.

Simulations can take many forms, from computer simulations to physical models. They are often used in business, engineering and scientific research to study the behavior of complex systems. For example, a simulation of a city can be used to study how different policies might affect the city's growth and development.

Simulations are composed of several components, including a reality counterpart, a simulacrum, a context, a source, and a situation. The reality counterpart is the real-world system or process that the simulation is based on. The simulacrum is the representation of the reality counterpart within the simulation. The context is the environment in which the simulation t

Maimonides

Moses Maimonides (1135-1204)

Moses Maimonides (also known as Moses ben Maimon and Rambam) was a Spanish-born Jewish rabbi, philosopher, physician, and astronomer who lived in the 12th century. He is considered one of the most influential figures in Jewish history, and is best known for his philosophical works, such as the "Mishnah Torah" and "The Guide for the Perplexed".

Maimonides was born in Cordoba, Spain in 1135. In 1165, he left Cordoba for Fez, Morocco, where he lived for some time before eventually settling in Fostat, Cairo. He was a rabbi, author, physician to the royal family, astronomer, and head of the Jewish community from 1177.

Maimonides is most famous for his philosophical works, but he also wrote extensively on the Jewish calendar, the Mishnah and Talmud, Judaism and faith, the nature of God, Jewish ethics, responsa, and Jewish philosophy. In his works of medicine, he stressed preventive medicine, diet therapy, and care for convalescents. He wrote primarily in Arabic, but also in Hebrew.

Distributed Artificial Intelligence

Distributed Artificial Intelligence

Distributed artificial intelligence (DAI) is a subfield of artificial intelligence (AI) that is concerned with coordinated, concurrent action and problem solving. DAI is a branch of AI which studies the behavior of distributing knowledge, data, and processes of intelligent agents in a distributed environment.

The term "Distributed Artificial Intelligence" can refer to a variety of things, including distributed problem solving, distributed knowledge representation, distributed reasoning, and distributed learning. It also includes distributed algorithms for knowledge sharing and for distributed problem solving.

DAI systems are composed of multiple autonomous components, each of which may have its own representation of the problem, its own reasoning capabilities, and its own control mechanism. This allows for the system to do more complex reasoning and to be more resilient to errors.

DAI applications are found in many different domains including robotics, distributed com

Virtual Humans (Artificial Intelligence)

Virtual humans are software programs which present as human and which may have behavior, emotion, thinking, autonomy, and interaction modeled on physical human capabilities. Virtual humans are used to create a realistic and interactive environment in which to interact with a user.

The following are some of the elements of a virtual human:

  • A body, which may be a digital avatar or simply a microphone and speaker or text-chat interface
  • A set of senses and the ability to detect sensations
  • The ability to appraise sensation triggers and respond to them, including showing emotion and changing mood
  • The ability to plan to achieve goals, ideally set by some internal motivation
