Home Collection were music compilations made by fans for fans
and sold as CDs on flea market in post-soviet Minsk. At that
time, which is around 2000, the internet was overly expensive,
the salaries were extremely low. Flavoring juice on the table
was a sign of a celebration. Normally we would rather count
cash and buy beer to socialize once in a few weeks.

Home Collection was a way to discover new music, which was not
popular on the tradiotional media, and was slow and expensive
to download otherwise. It allowed people with a monthly income
below $50 to gain musical experience that would be impossible
for a price that is set by labels in more fortunate countries.
I am writing these notes to record a moment of history for the
pirate scene (if we can name it so) that raised a generation of
people, who genuinely appreciate the music in its astonishing
diversity. Who would not be able to afford it otherwise.
