From the root of a checkout of the branch, build first:

stack build --ghc-options=-Werror --test --no-run-tests hledger-lib hledger hledger-web hledger-ui

Every step runs from that directory. The test journal is the repository's examples/sample.journal (eight accounts, 2008); a few steps write a small journal of their own to /tmp.
