Front-End Web Developer

Front-End Web Developer

A little about us

thirteen23 is looking for a front-end web developer to join our boutique software design and development agency. We're a small, tight-knit team of designers and developers who collaborate on each project from start to finish.

Because we're so small, you'll have the freedom to be creative and solve problems your own way. With freedom comes responsibility, though, so it'll be up to you to nail the execution, all the way down to the fit & finish.

A little about you

You love design and have a strong sense of what looks good and works well. You're obsessed with details and getting the little things right, in your code and in the final product. You consider yourself to be a tireless advocate of the end-user.

Everybody wants someone who can write HTML & CSS by hand, but you understand how a little help from Sass and Compass can go a long way in the age of CSS3 and vendor-prefixed properties. You're opinionated about template languages, and probably have strong feelings about Haml.

When you open up a PSD, you immediately start looking for things you can implement without using images, and can explain how the design will look different in older browsers (and why that's okay).

But you also love code, and have a strong sense of how elegant, modular programming enhances readability and maintainability. JavaScript is a joy to you because you only use the good parts.

You understand browser internals like HTTP, caching and the DOM. You care deeply about performance, from page weight to animation frame rates. You know why jQuery is awesome, and you're familiar with projects to help make writing large-scale JavaScript apps easier, like Backbone and Ember.js.

You use version control on every project, even personal ones.

Most importantly, you're addicted to learning new things and keeping your skills state-of-the-art.

If this sounds like you, get in touch.
