Don't forget to get an EasyCard (悠遊卡). Its a stored value card and you can use it again when you come back. Can also pay for stuff with it at convenience stores..
while you are chilling there check out Jiufen (九分), its a very famous tourist attraction. Also all the nightmarkets too.
Theres a hiking train also near the Taipei 101 tower too. Its not a long hike, and doable for people who work in the builder to do it on a lunch break.
