Soldering Tutorial Items

Tools

  • Soldering iron (preferably temperature-controlled)
  • Solder wire (leaded, Sn60/Pb40 or Sn63/Pb37, rosin flux core)
    • Kester brand recommended
  • Tip cleaner (sponge or wire type)
    • Wire type recommended
  • Flush/diagonal cutters
    • CHP-170
  • Needlenose pliers ("miniature", normal-sized ones will be too large for electronics)
  • Solder wick
  • Solder sucker
  • Third hand/QuadHand/PanaVise/something else to hold boards/parts

Parts

  • Diavolino kit
  • FTDI Friend/FTDI Basic/FTDI Cable/some other kind of USB-to-Serial device with a 6 pin female header
